2025 Session Wrap Up

To friends and clients,

As the 2025 Legislative Session draws to a close, I’m taking a moment to reflect. This year marked The Trianon Group’s inaugural session—a strange one to launch in, but maybe also the perfect one. It reinforced that preparation, persistence, and presence still matter, especially when the rules are shifting in real time.

The session was unlike any in recent memory. Budget and tax negotiations forced a month-and-a-half extension, testing everyone’s stamina and strategy. Under Speaker Daniel Perez, the House prioritized fiscal restraint and tax relief, narrowing the policy bandwidth and demanding new tactics.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Senate President Ben Albritton, Speaker Perez, and Governor DeSantis reflected the natural push and pull of governing. While the three share many priorities, the session surfaced key differences—particularly around spending. These moments underscored the importance of timing, negotiation, and institutional balance.

This wrap-up highlights the issues we tracked most closely—not just those affecting clients, but broader debates shaping Florida’s future. Even bills that fail can set the stage for what’s next. We were in the Capitol on what should’ve been Day 60, watching key issues collapse—only to see them revived in the extension. That unpredictability is why we stay engaged until the final vote and veto.

We’ve included a few predictions—what we expect to return next session, and what new challenges may emerge.

I’m proud of what The Trianon Group accomplished. While I don’t often pause to celebrate, I’m trying to sit in the wins and recognize the trust our clients placed in us. We showed up prepared, strategic, and relentless—values that will continue to guide us.

Thank you for being part of our first year. Here’s to what’s next.

Warmly,

Tara Reid-Cherry

President, The Trianon Group
